U.S.A. Florida

I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!

Congrats and welcome :)

E_Sarita, it was great meeting you today! See you again in 2 weeks! :)

I've read that clinicals are T W for like 2 weeks then we get assigned one day a T or a W.

I like that!

Thanks KCOOPS!

Hey North people, I just looked on the professors website and the info has been changed for summer. It looks like north will be having summer, but I wonder why the classes do not show up on the course search.

About 1 more week till preadmission meeting everyone!!!

Nursing Process I schedule for North is now available in the course search!

Hello Everyone!!!

I am a returning nursing student at North campus and wanted to say hello to my future new class! I was accepted for last May entrance into the generic RN program but had deferred my seat till August. I started last fall, but due to my own fault I did not successfully complete 1 of the 6 classes during 1st semester. My personal meltdown cost me to lose so much time and my goals in mind. Before I started this program I knew exactly where I was going and how I was going to get there. When November came around, I lost all of that and more. I am not here to discourage you, but instead to let you know that this program IS possible if you want it bad enough. I failed myself and my fellow classmates because of ME. When I originally entered the program I thought I wanted this so bad. Now that I have the time to reflect on myself and do some soul searching I have come to realize that I wasn't anywhere near as determined as I should of been. I had the best intentions, but that's not good enough.

I had the most amazing professor for Process 1 & 2 and I am forever grateful for the life long lessons she taught me. Listen to what the instructors are telling you because they know what is best. You may not always agree with what they say or do, but you will see clearer with every test, return demo, and clinical assignment you complete and pass. Work hard and most importantly try to stay positive. Attitude and determination is everything in this program.

I apologize for the lengthy post, but I thought I would share my story in hopes of someone not making the same mistake as me. Don't give up on yourself like I did because you CAN DO THIS... YOU WILL DO THIS. I'm looking forward to joining those that will be attending North for Process 2 lecture and for the rest of this program. If any of you have questions or need any type of help please feel free to reach out to me. Take care and enjoy the excitement of being accepted into one of the most respected nursing schools in FL!!! :)

Thank you for a most inspiring, eloquent post! I just applied for August...fingers crossed...Please don't give up!

I have been shoe shopping and met a Nurse from Memorial at a Famous Footwear in Hollywood. She told me to try the "grasshoppers" I was skeptical because they are actually not that cute, but as she said after so many hours on your feet you won't care. I tried them and they are sooooo comfy. I don't think I have ever tried a more comfortable pair of shoes. They are slip resistant and all leather (kind of look like KEDS) and they were about $44 bucks. Just giving the heads up in case anyone was still looking for shoes : ) That's one more thing off my checklist!

Hello Hope2bPicuRN and welcome! Thanks for sharing and for your words of encouragement. Life is full of unexpected surprises, but I'm glad you found your way back to nursing :) Here's to a new start!!

Any advise you could give us newbies? Maybe on how we could better prepare ourselves before the program starts...anything helps. Thanks!

So relieved to see North campus will be available this summer. I missed the last class. There is another class coming up I am planning to attend. BROWARD/DADE SCHEDULES
