Broward College hopeful for May 2013 Nursing Program

I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!

Correct. I saw they don't have the math class and pharm class we're supposed to take our first semester on North campus this summer up either...and it is kind of odd that there's no pre admission meeting at North, just Central and South. Guess a phone call is in order...

There's a preadmission meeting at south? I thought they were only being held at central?

I pretty sure it's only at central for PRE admission meeting!! Because they have two times 9 am and 1 pm and I was told a few days after the meeting we would be allowed to register for class which means I think they have a month to put up classes for north

Prior semesters have registered beginning the monday or tuesday after.

Yes that's true.. I was just trying to say that they have about a month to update with classes for north campus.

For all you North people I really hope they do end up putting up a schedule for it. I know a lot of you had your heart set on going to north. Is it possible the professor is taking the semester off again? That happened last summer.

Thank you for your support. I'm sure the NP1 professor at North is wonderful. It does not make sense for the management at Broward to allow one professor, with (at least) one foot out the door, to determine whether a new class can begin at one of its nursing school sites. The management needs to make decisions in the best interest of BC and its students, not be nice to a professor they like a lot. This is why MBAs make big bucks and nurses are truly underpaid in comparison.

I am thinking of switching to the online program, if possible, or waiting to apply to FAU to get a BSN in three semesters. I can use this year to work to pay the difference in tuition and I'll become a nurse at exactly the same time. I have a higher GPA and test scores than a friend who already got in for this year. Now I'll have an A in micro and I can finish nutrition. I really just wanted to get started. Even if I take it online, I could still get the clinical hours that BC offers, just not the didactic. I'll wait to see how scholarships work out. Such a downer.
