Hey Everyone!

Anybody out there applied for the August 2009 class? I know there are a couple of people on here including myself who are deferred until August. Where r u guys at?! Good luck to those who start classes tomorrow and good luck to those anxiously waiting the May 15th application deadline!

Side note- Can ANYBODY please tell me why the faculty at BC are sooooooooooo mean?!?! :angryfireI just left the north campus and some of them act like I just killed their mother! I'm trying soo hard to be nice, but some of them make me wanna take my earrings and heels off and jump over the counter!! :smiley_abj/k lol

oh my goodness :\ very sorry to hear that. They don't explain anywhere that it has to be within two years...

here is the crazy thing I have checked on the website and rechecked, checked somemore to see the requirements prior to going to the office and it says nothing about 2yrs, but after going to the office I went back to the website and it seems that they have changed alot of things as far as requirement and the possible points that you can receive, so im guessing they just changed this HOSA requirements. I even called and they told me there was no restrictions...I dont even know anymore. :o

I think you should just give it a try! If you have a good GPA and a Broward resident you would have no problem getting in! Tomorrows the last day give it a shot. I heard some people get deferred until the next semester, i'm not sure what that means but I guess the deferred in August '09 would have the chance above everyone else to get into the January '10 program. They changed their rules so there isn't much you can do except apply for a bunch of nursing schools and give BC a shot. You'll never know unless you try! GL~!

yeah...just have to do what I have to do

BC doesn't make the students defer, its the students who choose to defer. If they defer, they are guaranteed a spot the next semester.

I don't know what the cutoff was for May 2009 class, but for January 2009, it was around 3.2-3.3, so you definitely have a shot. Of course, that's not including residency or HOSA points, however, when I was told what the cutoff was, it was in regards to GPA alone. I'm pretty sure the May class was lower. Also, I had asked at an information session how important those HOSA points were, like if someone with a lower GPA trumped out someone with a higher GPA just because they had HOSA points, I was told they didn't really see an effect like that. So who knows. I'm guessing that with the fact that they limit the HOSA to being done within the last two years, and the fact that most people that are trying to get into the program graduated at least two years ago and won't be awarded the HOSA points, there won't be too many people who actually have them.

I wish you the world of luck. But girrrrl, if you think BCC north campus is mean....get ready for the real world when you graduate (management, fellow nurses, patients, family members). Start now to develop a thick skin and go for your dream. Ignore those that are nasty. They are probably unhappy in their lives - their problem - not yours. I am a graduate of the BCC north campus. I had great instructors (and some really crapy ones)...to this day I remember their words. Always remember this - you are striving for greatness - to be the best nurse you can be - don't let anyone bring you down. Learn how to let words roll off your back and be as professional as possible in any and all situations. Good luck!!

Hey! i actually def. my seat from may to aug 09 as well. I feel so anxious and nervous at this point after hearing all these stories about BC's Nur Pro.... Then they wonder why there's a shortage in nursing.... it's because they're out to get us based on the stories flying around these threads. Well im prepared to take the bull by the horns and ride this ***** for what it's worth lol! i've made a decision to get a tutor this summer b4 i begin the first semester in aug, im def not taking any chances with BC's most talked about staff!

Is BC that bad because I also hear terrible things about BC on some of these thread, but I have talked to a few people thats in program, and the only thing negative they said was the program is hard, but they never say anything bad about the school itself or the staff...I dont know the only thing to do is just get in, do ur thing and learn as much as possible...and graduate and if it doesnt work out just go to another school.

Hi all,

I too am waiting to hear re: aug 09, and have read horror stories. Does anyone know if we even get to choose the campus we would like to attend if we are accepted? I'm torn because Central is closer but I keep reading 'go to North', but I havent really seen much about why North is better. Do they not have the same program? Do they not make you take the math every semester? Where are you all planning to go, and what was your decision based on?

Thank you for your replies...

The first thing that will happen, if I remember correctly, is that they will have everyone go to Central for an orientation. Then, at some point, everyone will register for their classes (they will open the registration for the nursing students on a specific day and time) and then you can register for the campus you want to go to.

thank you for your reply

I forgot to answer your other question. I am planning to go to North, but thats the campus I live closest to, so that was how I made my decision. The program is basically the same at both campuses, but I keep hearing North is better, too. I think it has to do with the professors, but I still really don't know why they say that. North does allow more students than the other campuses.
