I'm a nursing student and I needed alittle help on a assignment that was given to me by my professor and I just kinda want to hear what all you had to say if asked the same questions.

Occupation: RN Nursing Program - Associates of Science In Nursing

1. What motivated your interest in this occupation? I love to help people and love to learn about medical.

2. What education, training and/or experience are needed? A year of prerequisites, then 2 years of medical training and clinicals.

3. What specific skill sets are essential to have in order to be successful in this career? You have to have a big heart and a passion for helping people no matter what stage of illness they could be in. You also have to be thorough with your work, one mistake a nurse makes could be her job on the line.

4. What is the future employment outlook for this occupation? So far very good, Nurses are in a high demand. It is one of the top ten jobs that are growing in employment at a rate of 29% between year 2000-2014

5. What is the annual salary? Depending on location and the amount of education a average nurse working on the low scale would average at 50,000 a year, the average scale at 56,000-68,000, and the high scale of 73,000.

6. How can your successful intelligence be beneficial working in this capacity? Successful Intelligence will help anyone no mater what field or occupation they are in. Successful Intelligence can help me be a smarter, practical, and a more creative nurse.

7. What advancement opportunities are afforded in this capacity? Well, there are many choices to choose from, you can be a RN with is a nurse who has an associates of science degree, then there is a BSN with is a nurse with her bachelors degree, and finally there is a MSN who is a nurse with her masters. These extra courses can be afforded by the healthcare provider you work for as well.

8. Do you feel this occupation would be a life-long career choice? Why? Yes, Nursing is a very dependable career and I would definitely consider it a livelong career choice for me because I would enjoy and love doing it.

1. what motivated your interest in this occupation? "]i am good at it- i want to make a difference in people lives and enjoy working with people

2. what education, training and/or experience are needed? alot of hard work through general education and then nursing school- and it doesn't stop there- you are forever a student- the medical field is forever evolving

3. what specific skill sets are essential to have in order to be successful in this career? you have to like people, be able to be empathetic without involving yourself- be able to think critically quickly..and be able to prioritize- and many other things that are too many to list here

4. what is the future employment outlook for this occupation? it depends on where you are located. i am in florida and at the moment- there is an overabundance of nurses. it is difficult to get a job here if you have little or no experience.

5. what is the annual salary? depending on location and the amount of education a average nurse working on the low scale would average at 25,00 up to an anrp upwards of $80,000 (for florida)

6. how can your successful intelligence be beneficial working in this capacity? successful intelligence will help anyone no mater what field or occupation they are in. successful intelligence can help me be a smarter, practical, and a more creative nurse. **agree

7. what advancement opportunities are afforded in this capacity? well, there are many choices to choose from, you can be a rn with is a nurse who has an associates of science degree, then there is a bsn with is a nurse with her bachelors degree, and finally there is a msn who is a nurse with her masters. these extra courses can be afforded by the healthcare provider you work for as well. **this is true- however- i believe what they are looking for here is what opportunities are available for rn's---there are mulitple choices for nurses- there is acute care (hospitals) there is sub-acute- (a rehab center)- there is long term (skilled nursing facility)- there is home care, hospice, doctors offices, schools- the list is too long to type- as well as sub divided in acute care- cardiac, neuro, tele, m/s, icu, etc..the list goes on and on- the possibilities are endless.

8. do you feel this occupation would be a life-long career choice? why?for many, bedside nursing is a stepping stone...for me it is a life long career choice- alas one that i will always be affiliated with- i am currently in an rn to msn program- so my goals are to be an arnp...but still at the bedside

9. how would this occupation utilize your particular strengths? for me..i am a leader- a quick thinker, and always a positive thinker. i utilize my ability to lead by training new nurses, being available for anyone who has questions and as for my patients, i am always thinking ahead- what is the impact of their disease or disease process- what are the implications of that..etc

10. what preparations would you have to make now to obtain success in this occupation?

learn all you can!! know the patho, know pharmacology- you should know more than doctors-- you are with those pts 12 hours a day!!

11. what limitations do you have as it relates to this profession? what steps can you take to

overcome it?

limitations????mmmmm...well, we all have limitations..everyone is individual--for me it is the inability to separate myself from my work..many times i am too sensitive to things that are going on with my patients and it upsets me...but we are all human..and that what makes us good nurses
