Pertinent safety questions for a flight RN position?

  1. I have an interview tomorrow for a flight nursing position. What specific safety questions would be good to ask of the flight program?
Required amount of flight hours for the pilots?
    CAMTS accreditation?
Do most flight programs provide life insurance for their pilots/medical personnel?
What other safety questions would help me to decide if this organization is worth working for?
    Thank you!

Is the program roto-wing or fixed wing?
Wha type of emergency equipment do they actually have on board?
What type of training are they going to provide for you?
Is your program hospital based or private company?
At scene trauma ro inter-hospital transfers?
    International transfers?
Which hospital is your back-up facility and what is the training level of their doctors?
These are the questions that I would be more concerned with, especially if you are going with a private company...............you didn't specify.

    Thank you for your reply!
Several fixed wing, 5 rotor wing, dispatched from multiple satellite locations - covering a 4 state region.
2 RN's staff each flight. Founding/sponsoring facilities are a large children's hospital, a level-one trauma center and a university hospital - all are teaching facilities.
    Rare, if any international transfers.
Rotor-wing are mostly scene transfers, fixed wing are mostly inter-hosp. transfers.

Most of your pilots are going to be former military pilots. At least all that I have ever flown with were. Especially with that type of program.

    Good luck on your interview................
