Yes and no. The CCEMPT curriculum is more of an introductory course. It is a very good course and covers many of the topics found on the CFRN/CTRN. However, I found the CFRN questions required more decision making when compared to the CCEMTP exam. For example: The CCEMTP exam may ask about inferior wall Mi and nitrates causing potential harm if RVI is present. However; a similar question on the CFRN and CTRN I suspect, would give you a scenario of a MI patient who has a B/P of 80/30 and a CVP of 22. Then, you are asked about the problem and most harmful therapy. You have to actually decide based on the info that RVI is present and know nitrates could be harmful.

Note: These are not actual questions, just examples of types of questions.

So your saying the CCEMPT class asks a straight medical question and the CFRN asks scenario questions.

Not exactly, I am trying to say that the CFRN contained more complex decision making type questions.

Hi,
I passed the CEN two weeks ago, the CFRN 3 days ago, and am doing the FP-C next Thursday. I had let the certifications expire about a year ago, because I didn't think I was going to fly again. I was wrong, and won't make that mistake again of not renewing.
I certainly wouldn't say the tests are easy, but if you have a fair amount of experience, they aren't that bad. The thing that helps the most in my opinion is to answer a lot of questions in the study guids before you take the test. it helps you get used to how questions are worded, what they really want to know, and how to make the most of the info you are given in order to come up the the MOST APPROPRIATE answer. And don't be in a hurry. Read ALL of the answers carefully before picking one.
Good Luck

I dont have as much experience as bailey does so I find it difficult to decide between those two answers that looked good. I think the interesting part about these types of certs is they cover the full range of pt.

I would suggest that folks look at the similar threads to this one on FlightWeb. Some of us probably frequent both sites.

I am considering the CTRN now that I may be doing some ground CCT. I am in the middle of teaching a CCT class through one of the local colleges; however, something I am thinking about later.
