University of Phoenix Online for BSN

Has anyone in here done the University of Phoenix's online program for the BSN? I was thinking about doing it once I get my ADN next year. It seems easy enough. Can anyone give me some opinions on it? Is it expensive? Hard to do? Easy to do? I've tried one online course before, and I ended up withdrawling because I never did the work. However, that was nutrition and I wasn't interested in it at all. I'm sure if I know that I will be working towards a higher degree I will do all the work required of me. This just seemed kind of easybecause they know people will be working while trying to get their bsn so its not too accelerated. They only do one course at a time. Can I get people's thoughts and opinions? Maybe even talk to someone who went through it? Thanks!

I will be finished with UoP in about a month. It is very expensive and it is VERY hard. If you had a hard time doing the work for your nutrition class, I would be hesitant on jumping into the UoP. You have to be very self-directed. It also helps to have some nursing experience under your belt as you will be drawing on that a lot. There is a lot of teamwork involved (not my favorite thing as one or two on a team usually carry the load) and individually there is tons. There is usually a pretty involved paper or power point due every week. Yes, it is one class at a time, but that is a 3 credit class in 5 weeks. Most people don't take breaks between classes, so it is like taking a total of 30 credits a year. You have to be very self-motivated in order to succeed. Grades are not just handed to you, you have to work very hard.

To the OP - I answered on your other thread.

Traveler - I too did the BSN (and then MSN) via UofP. Although the expense was significant it worked well for me because I'm a rotating shift worker.

I looked into their program and decided on an online program in Illinois. Cost is expensive on both but I was impresses with the staff I talked with at the other school. Plus the fact that I was able to carry over almost every credit I had from prior classes and could test out of 3 classes. There are options out there, for the best results find the program that best works for you.

How about Jacksonville U? Has anyone attended there?

No, but I can say that the school is highly recommended. It's also very expensive, but I think well worth it. I live in Jacksonville and it is a top notch private university.

I'm still going to UOP tho, mostly because it is right around the corner from my job, a convienent location.

I think that the two tuitions are about the same. UOP isn't all online. The one that I'm going to, we meet in a classroom setting once a week. Or so I'm being told. There are 5 of us in my class (starts March 1st) and we are merging with an already formed class of 15.

We'll see....

I'm not sure, but I thought JU was all online?? Don't quote me. Not sure.

I am currently with the UoP program and really like it. It is tough but I have one week break in between classes to help me relax and get refocused for the next class. the thing about UoP is that you have to post 4 days a week at least twice for participation. Some of the instructors are a bit leniant but most are strict with it. I agree with the other poster in that the Learning Team is not my forte but there is so much work individually and team. I like it though.. It is about $425 per credit hour.

Hope it helps.
