Hello all. I found out today that I am being offered a nursing position in the kidney transplant unit taking care of pre and post renal transplant patients. My ultimate goal is to work in a surgical icu or surgical transplant icu unit. I am currently an RN on a med/surg unit that is working towards being stroke certified and we are getting mainly stroke patients. I have been working here for seven months. I had a hard time finding a job as a new grad. I was pregnant when I got hired at my current job, but my manager did not know. When I told my manager she was very understanding and my job was held for me. I feel a sense of loyalty to my job but I truly want to go to icu. What do you guys think? Anyone with transplant experience that has gone on to icu? I need advice.
