I work on a very high acuity floor where the patient load is heavy, nurse to patient ratio is 4:1 or 3:1 depending. The nurses do everything and I work 12 hour shifts. I am having a difficult time with organizing my day, getting my thoughts together and staying focused. Can you offer me any advice as to staying on track, finding my grounding, organizing my day, getting all of my tasks done and succeeding as an RN? I'm totally frustrated with myself and am so disappointed with the way things are going. I do NOT want to transfer to a different floor, I want to stay where I am and so, I am here looking for some techniques and pointers as to how YOU did it when you first started, things you found out along the way that helped you. Please:) I will try anything and everything offered to me!! Thank you for your input:)

I see no one has responded yet. However, if you search the allnurses.com database you will find some great answers to your questions. I am in the same boat as you. Most nurses tell me it just takes time. I encourage you to not be frustrated with yourself. The only reason you are frustrated is because you care and you want to do a good job, and that is something to be proud of!!:D
