New Rn, can I do this?

Graduated in May, took some time off with my new baby, took my nclex last month, start my orientation in a few weeks for a rn position on a med surg floor. The problem is is that I'm feeling very anxious which I know al new nurses feel. I am afraid I've forgotten stuff I learned in nursing school. I know that I will not be expected to necessarily know everything but I am afraid I won't know the basic things that I should know. Any advice for a new nurse? What are some things I should freshen up on before starting? I don't want to be that nurse that is asked a question by another nurse or patient and doesn't have an answer! I know experience will be the best teacher, but I don't want to be incompetent.

Advice would be to be honest about what you are unsure of, ask pertinent questions at appropriate times and be eager to both learn and to get along with others. Nobody remembers everything when they start. You are normal. They will expect you to be barely competent.

Great advice, thank you!
