I have an interview....

...and I can't stop my stomach from curling in knots thinking about it! It's my first one since passing boards last month. It's tomorrow morning with the floor manager. I'm super excited but I wish the nervous junk would stop!

Okay that's all. I just needed to let that out to someone that might actually get why an interview means so much. According to my family I should have people begging me to take an RN position in their hospital :rolleyes:

Congrats on your interview. I completely understand, it's very tough right now. Keep eye contact and try to remain calm - you can freak out afterwards! Stay positive and remember you know your stuff, after all you passed your boards.

Thanks, guys! The interview went fine - not omg I SO got that job great, but good nonetheless. She was up front about having to interview more people for the same position. Although I AM glad I forked over the extra money for the linen paper because she kept commenting how much she appreciated resumes/references on quality paper.

Maybe she'll remember me as the one with the attention to detail and hire me :) I'm glad it's over so now.....back to mindless online applications! Ugh.

make sure to send a thank you letter!! I got hired as a new grad, only one of my class to get a job, and I truly think it's because I played by the rules. (cover letter, resumes, dressed the part, thank you letter after the interview) good luck!

I also have an interview tomorrow morning.. 4/20/11 at 9AM

It will also be my first (one-on-one) interview since being licensed.

I am very excited/hopeful. This hospital is my #1 job interest since graduation.

We did a group interview last week 4/12/11, & we were told they would select a handful (of the 18 new-grad RNs) for one-on-one interviews, and finally select two for hire.

I knew I had a good chance to get selected for one-on-one interviews b/c I was one of the only two males in the room, I was the most formally dressed (suit&tie, other guy was in a polo&slacks) and I also sent a thank you email to the hospital (included each staff member by name).

Now I'm down to the wire with my one-on-one interview tomorrow morning!

Part of the reason I am nervous is b/c I was so uncomfortable at a "mock-interview" with a random teacher at my school. So, I have just been praying&praying...

my wife keeps reminding me that they like me already if I got a call-back, so just be myself

Well.....I found out today that I didn't get the job. I'm disappointed but not discouraged! At least the first interview jitters are gone now. Thankfully I'm still working full time as a PCA so money isn't a huge issue yet. I've got plenty of time before student loan panic kicks in :)

my interview went extremely well

sorry I dont have time to type many details about it b/c I'm heading to bed, but feel free to ask any questions about it.

bullet points:

- I wore a suit/tie (diff shirt/tie combo from my group interview..)

- they called me back to begin the interview 10 mins after appointment time

- I was interviewed by 5 people instead of a "one-on-one" interview

- I made sure to take some deep breathes & make sure to listen (not talk too much)

- I was asked about my schooling experiences, favorite experiences, fav nursing skills, etc

- I was asked how I feel about talking to the M.D.'s, etc

I really just made sure to be honest about EVERYTHING, as comfortable as possible. I answered their question about talking to the Dr.'s with a little honesty/humor "it is always a little intimidating to speak to people who have more knowledge than you, but its just one of those things that I try to prepare for (by collecting as much background info as possible) & just do it b/c it has to be done... & honestly the doctors seemed to take it a little easier on the male nursing students than the females" ..haha, everyone chuckled, my interviewer commented "so that happens in nursing school too, huh?"

When it comes down to it... we just clicked. It seems as though it was just meant to be, and all the other hospitals that rejected my applications were obviously not meant to be.

This really is my dream job & I'm so happy that I didn't settle for some random position that neither I nor my employer would be happy with.

The interview lasted 45 minutes, and they called me 2 hours after I left to make me an offer.

I accepted the offer of $20.50/hr and I'll begin on May 2 (my birthday!)
