Hey everyone,

I am new to nursing I will be starting my nursing program on Sept22 ,2003 and I wanted to know how did you guys prepare for the NCLEX exam and how long did you give yourself to study for the examination? Thanks Mesha

First of all, Congrats on entering your program!

You can buy an NCLEX book to study from during the semester - to study for school exams & to get a head start on getting a sense of what NCLEX questions are like. I think they say to take at least between 2000-4000 practice questions before the exam.

I took a few months to study after I graduated - Did at least 100 questions per day, EVERY DAY. Aim to get over 75% on the practice exams. (I passed on the first try.) Oh, and read some old threads on the NCLEX here on allnurses. They will really help.

You should be fine. Good luck! :)

I bought a book to study from and started in about April of my senior year (Took boards in July). Just did 20-200 questions a day depending on my schedule. Most schools offer practice NCLEX tests during your last few months of classes. Its recommened that you just do as many questions as you can.

I reviewed the entire book and did the practice questions every day. I then downloaded the cd that came with the book and did about 4,000 more questions. Passed NCLEX the first time.

Good luck with nursing!

Laurie
