Gaps in online job postings

The further into the Job Search I get, the bigger a pet peeve this is becoming -- postings for job openings that are just missing chunks of important information, like what kind of floor it is that you're potentially applying to! (Guess what? "Reissman 12" may mean something to you, but I am completely clueless!)

Suggestions for how to deal with this? My first thought would be to just call up HR and ask for clarification, but I'm applying to mainly large hospitals in Boston and New York, and I'm wondering how receptive they would be to those kinds of questions.

If they're not putting adequate information in their ads, they should expect such phone calls. I agree with you - there ARE holes in those ads.

I would call up HR/RN recruitment and maybe not even give them my name (make them ask for it), just say that I'm interested in an advertisement they have for X floor and you were wondering if it would be possible to get a bit more information on that floor. If they ask you why - TELL THEM - tell them that you are unfamiliar with "Reissman 12" and wanted to know what service it was on. Seems awfully presumptious of them to assume everyone knows them well enough to just KNOW what that is (don't tell them that, that's just my opinion! :) )

Alternatively, go online and see if there's a map available on the hospital's web site. Duke University Hospital, where I will be working, has one on their website and it tells you what is located on each floor.
