Failed in Texas!

Nurses New Nurse

I posted this on another board but noticed that this board is quite busy and with a lot of great info. I took the test on Thursday and found out yesterday that I failed :crying2:. It has been a very tough several months for me - a very close relative died (former nurse and my mentor) a week before graduation and have been quite busy dealing with all the last details out of state. Then two weeks ago my sister-in-law and nephew moved in after a very bad assault and is still having medical problems from it. Instead of studying, I have found a place for them to live, etc while I have been going to work and doing my internship program. How do I explain this to my Nurse Manager tomorrow without sounding like I am "making excuses" for doing so poorly :imbar? I made good grades in school while working full time, I passed Hesi before taking the class and I also took the Kaplan course. I also freaked out after the 75 mark and the 140 mark during the test when I took all 265 questions?

uuuhhh! Im sorry you didn't pass. Man, with all that stress going on, I don't know how you were able to keep it together, let alone, find time to study!

Well, its time for you to pick yourself up,dust off and move on. Try to get your situation in order and take time for yourself to review and study.

Keep your head up when you talk to your NM, you are not the only one who has gone thru this situation...

I read your other post, the good thing is you can retest in 45 days if you choose!! I agree with HappyStudent,RN, take care of yourself and get right back in it. Wishing you the very best!! Good Luck!!!

It sounds like you spent a lot of time doing for others, now, it's time to do for yourself. I have a feeling that your nurse manager will be compassionate if you tell her all that you have been through lately. Like the others have said, pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and go for it again. Make time to study at least 100 NCLEX questions daily. There are a lot of good books to use for studying.

Don't be hard on yourself. (I know that is easier said than done!) Good luck to you the second time around. Wishing you the best!

Im sorry to hear the news. Please don't give up, now is the time for you to take of you so take some time away from studying and other stressors. Then when your ready start up again and go out and get your RN-we all know you can do it.
