Wound care practice help or other Skills

Nursing Students Excelsior

Hello there! I am not sure if this is the right place to post this I am currently an LPN student with a few more months to go we are learning skills now, I always want to practice at home but my school doesn't provide any practice materials or a place where we can buy them. I am also trying to find a way to continuously practice my injections and some of the other skills I have learned. I do stay for extra practice when offered but I want to have access to practice at home too. And being that I have decided to go to EC in the next couple of months I want to get into the habit of practicing.

Thank you for taking the time out to read my post. - Nikki

I made my practice wound from some regular old playdough. Just shaped it like a wound, let it dry and used it many times.

For injections, easiest way I found was to get a pool noodle and use that to practice with.

Specializes in Critical Care, ED, Cath lab, CTPAC,Trauma.

I have told students to use fruit. A long eggplant or watermelon for wounds or an orange for injections. YOu can make fake make-up with corn starch, vasoline, and powder makeup. It's reusable

Thank you!! I never thought about Dough!! :) thanks guys!
