Thanks for responding. I am in Southern California and I think the closest locations would be Nevada (I am told we are about 3-4hrs from Las Vegas) and Arizona. However, they are not close enough where I could drive to those states to work each day....This is really discouraging, before we moved I was working as an ER Tech where I was already offered an RN position once I completed EC and now I am racking my brains to try to work in the state that I live in. I can't even consider taking a few travel assignments because you have to have a least 2yrs RN experience 1st.

Also, I don't think getting my RN license in another state and trying to appy for CA Endorsement will work, because I read the BON still looks at your RN education as a criteria so that will not guarantee the CA BON will endorse my license.

I will look into the federal facilities, thanks again. I appreciate the feedback.

Hi, I would like to know if there is a CNPE testing site in the Kansas City, Missouri area. I tried to find out on Excelsior's website, but it won't let you see testing sites unless you are already eligible to take the test. I don't want to waste my time and money on a program and not be able to finish because there's no site near me.

No, there is no testing site in MO. They are in Wisconsin, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. However, many students travel quite a distance for the CPNE, but because it is only 2.5 days, it's not a huge inconvenience.

Thanks! Georgia sounds good, maybe a mini-vacation after the test.

Especially if you go to the test site in Savannah! But I'm biased, it's one of my favorite places.

Hi Lunah, I'm new to this site and to excelsior (just registered about a week ago), your post is awesome, extremely helpful!! I did want to ask you a question though, like you, I have a prior degree fulfilling most prereqs, however, I am opting to CLEP out of lifespan developmental psych. What I'm concerned about is, I ordered the book but I'm now seeing that its 400+ pages, I obviously can't read all of that in order to study for this exam, what would you say is my best bet/best study tools in order to pass this exam? Any response would be greatly appreciated, look forward to hearing from you!!

    Thanks,
    Kristin

Just to clarify, are you taking the EC lifespan exam or the Human Growth and Development CLEP test?

    I'm "testing out" of lifespan.

Yes, but through EC or CLEP? Two different things.

Oh I see, I'm taking it through EC. I'm taking the exam instead of taking the whole course.

This is a great source of information! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! Just amazing!!

I have been wanting to do distance learning for years and just couldn't put all the information together! Local colleges offer nothing that works with my employment schedule.

Can you tell me more about the clinical exam at the end. I worry about all the work/money being in vain if I can't pass that!?!?!?

That is an issue with EC - the Clinical Performance in Nursing Exam (CPNE) can be daunting, and people do fail out if the program after the max number if attempts (three). I don't recommend EC for everyone if you have traditional alternatives. But people do pass the CPNE, many on the first attempt. It's kind of a big gamble.
