In terms of difficulty and subject depth, are Excelsior's practice exams good indicators?

Nursing Students Excelsior

Hello, all

This is my second thread on the subject of Excelsior, but I'm new to the program and am trying my best to wrap my head around what the appropriate amount of work is.

I know nobody can share information about what test content is, and I wouldn't ask that.

What I would like to know is, how closely do the practice exams reflect the depth of content and difficulty of the actual exams you take for credit?

I'm not trying to get out of doing extra work, but rather trying to best understand how much time in my already busy schedule is appropriate to dedicate to preparation for each exam.

I did not do any practice exams, but I used the free guides to study for the exams. Passed them all first time. I love EC!

Last update ;) Took Reproductive Health Exam today. A :) This was my last nursing Exam (excluding FCCA & CPNE :D )

For this one I can also say that the Practice Exams bought from Excelsior were precious source of information. Many of those questions came up on the exam today. And again - only multiple choice questions - NO SATA :D

take the practice exams, they are worth the time and money. If you read the suggested texts in the study guides you will have no problems. also, the practice exams give you two attempts, you can go back and review what you got wrong and the rationales. worth the $$ to me.

In terms of studying for these exams I go directly based off of the content guide. My usual method is to type out the entire content guide (yes very time consuming but it allows you to get familiar with what you are going to cover in each section) As i type it i leave spaces to fill in notes for either definitions or any notes that are needed. This way i do not miss one thing that was on the content guide. I also have utilized the phone conference aspect of EC they have been pretty helpful for me also. Best of luck everyone Happy Studying

I felt that the practice exams were my greatest assest with all the exams except LS3. This seemed to be the only test where they didnt match up well.

Hi yall, this is my first post on this website, so please forgive me. What is LS3?

I am going to take the Patho test soon. I have already taken the class at my college - twice but I did not do well because I had some unexpected health issues. The first time I took it in the summer with 2 other classes and I didn't really know what I was getting myself into, and I was still recovering from surgery I had about 2 weeks before classes start. I also work and have kids. The second time I took it this past fall I had a lot more health problems and once my teacher actually refused to let me come to class and sent me to the ER. I had to do a lot testing and I missed class because I couldn't get out of bed. I am doing a lot better now, and I cant afford to take this class again. I recently changed my major to nursing, and this would be my first really nursing class, and I took A&P 7 years ago! So Im a little rusty and really worried that I won't do well on this test. I have major anxiety in general and Ive never had to take a class again, so I am feeling really discouraged and incompetent. So I was wondering if anyone had any study suggestions or any tips? I am planning on taking the test sometime before the 20th (thats when classes start, I have already signed up for the class again- just in case.. I just have no idea how Im going to pay for it). Any words of encouragement would help too :) thanks

Go over Excelsior Practice Exams Questions in detail and if you have time, StudyGroup101 Manual will help. I know it's getting close, but grasp as much as you can before the weekend :)

How did everyone find the foundations exam I'm taking that on Tuesday!!!
