It happens. People fail the test all the time. My friend failed the first test twice and gave up on the program. Please dont give up! You are going to need more than the practice test and your LPN knowledge. Those test are not easy. Did you get the content guide for health safety and go over all the material? I strongly suggest buying the recommend Fundamentals book and possible go on Ebay and buy the Studygroup101 notes for the test. Once your armed with the right study materials, you should be able to pass the test. I finished the the program and graduated Feb 09. It took me 1 yr to complete the program and I repeated 2 test. If I failed 2 test and still finished the program in a decent time then you can too. Just move on and start studying for Transitions to Professional nursing and come back and take Health Safety in 60 days. Again, I cannot stress the importance in buying the books, practice test and possibly study notes. Good Luck and hang in there!

hi,

use this experience as a learning opportunity.

the excelsior tests are not easy. i just took h&s about 1 month ago and i am currently studying for transitions.

from my experience you need to get the content guide from excelsior or download it from their website, buy the fundamentals book, read the chapters and make notes.

good luck and keep going at it.

There is a link on the EC website to find study buddies. You might want to also look for a study buddy there. Good luck.

I'm getting ready to take this exam next saturday 22nd! I did like newyork said, i bought the recommended books (although i looked them up on ebay and got an edition or two behind the one they want you to have now) and read all the chapters used the free EC content guides to make notes of information and, i toook the practice exams (A- 74%, and B- 71%) what did you get on the pracice exams btw?

How long did you take to study the material?

I'd be willing to partner up with you, but i'm in KY so it'd have to be online or over the phone =) I also made up a schedule of what to have read and when to have it done by, this kept me accountablel to myself.

yes i wud love if we cud study together well all i used wass the practice exam got a 60 on part a 62 on part b wat was i thinking i really didnt study apart from the practice exam ive learned from this expensive experience i will get the sugggested med surge book

Yes, I heard of others doing it the way you did it at first and some have passed and some failed but when the went to take CPNE they had difficulty...it would benefit you to use study guide, studygroup notes, and if you wish purchasing a NCLEX review book i.e. (Saunders NCLEX review, Lippincott, Mosby) it may help you get in practice with test questions. Im hearing the CPNE is very hard....without doing the readings EC requires you may miss some important information you will need for this exam..Best wishes!

Hi im just starting with excelsior-college and I am looking for a study buddy not sure how we do this but lets get started procrastinated long enough.
