Nursing Students Excelsior

DO NOT GO TO EXCELSIOR COLLEGE! Nothing against the school personally. I think its a great school. But because of the decisions of certain state boards of nursing, you should save yourself a lot heart ache by just not going there. Go to a traditional BSN program. Excelsior is not accepted in several states. Here, let me show you the reality of what happened to an Excelsior grad:

Melissa Nave of Hagerstown, a 2010 Excelsior School of Nursing graduate, describes her frustrating experience with the Maryland Board of Nursing. I think she's now working as a licensed practical nurse in Pennsylvania. Maybe Excelsior should just end its associate degree nursing program. This is horrible and should never happen to anyone. After seeing this video, all I could do was cry. Its just unthinkable. Nursing is a very cruel profession in general, but this is something I never could have imagined. Please. Don't do it.

That is a sad story indeed. But I think we all are responsible to secure our own futures and thus, she should have better researched her program and whether it is an approved RN program in the state where she wanted to work.

I did a quick search on Maryland Board of Nursing and it states

,
all Excelsior College students who are enrolled in the nursing program
before July 25, 2006
and who graduate
before December 31, 2007
may apply for the NCLEX examination or, if already licensed by another state, for endorsement."

She graduated in 2010, that should have been a heads up that there would be an issue.

This is a giant example of someone not doing their due diligence.
