AIMS
IF you are referring to the abnormal involuntary movement screen for patients taking psychotropic medications, the nurse Case Manager ( if trained) or the psych provider fills out the form. I recommend for the provider ( who ever is prescribing the psychotropic medications) to do the form during follow ups. AIMS should be completed every 6 months, if no changes.

Perinatal Bereavement?
I worked with hospice that had a perinatal program. The company pretty much had partnership with all the hospitals in the state. We worked from the hospital, on call duties for unexpected loss. Many of the case managers from hospice were recruited to work in high risk L&D. I didn't stay too long, it was very overwhelming, but a much needed service. But this experience opened many doors.

Nurses with second jobs
I have 2 jobs and so does all the other nurses in my team. It really depends on the job/hours. We have the ability to work out our own schedule, just as long as the work gets done, there's no issue.

how much do you pay on student loans per month
$60 per month for my ADN. My BSN courses and pre med classes are paid without loans.

medication errors
As the previous poster said, I would investigate the student, instructor and the assigned nurse that was on duty to get a clear story. The student will be held accountable no matter what.

NP or MD/DO????
Going into emergency medicine is not hard as what you think. I just completed my forms for medical school. I had to choose the top 3 specialties I wanted to practice. Trauma medicine and emergency medicine were my top. Per my navigator, it will not be a problem for me to be placed in one of those residencies. I will be placed in trauma medicine shadowing my first year, then have the option to continue. Stay focused and do your research. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Oh. I like my job, but it took me several positions to find a good fit. I am even considering picking up a 2nd job (same duties). Great pay, great benefits, great co-workers and flexibility keeps me happy!

I like this thread. I have not thought about this scenario before. I asked my husband about it, his response "just kill me!" No survival skills what so ever:no: (and I'm a little concerned:(). I think I will end up being a zombie and be a brain-eater:cheeky:. Like the previous poster said, I cannot run very fast either.

HELP: How Extensive Are Hiring Background Checks?
Hi OP, I just want to let you know that it is possible for your future employers to see ALL of your past employment (the jobs that are connected to your social security number). I did not know this until I started hiring nurses and requesting their background checks when I extend a position. Also, the company that I work for has a "media compliance" department that monitors any negative media that may be in connection to your name. It is astounding of how many people has lost their jobs because of that. Be very careful of the decisions you make now; think about how it will play a role in your future endeavors.

Working as a CNA as a muslim?
I absolutely agree. That being said, to provide accommodation for a fellow worker does not mean more work for the other team members. That's why I suggested that the OP speaks to her employer before hand so they can determine if proper accommodation can be made. It does not work out in every situation and other team members should not have a heavier assignment. That is not fair. Whenever I do assignments, I look at acuity. Patients are rated from being a 1, which is independent and a 5 which is total care. I try to be sure everyone has the same average. But I will say some, if not, many employers will look past accommodation. As it is understood, we all went into healthcare providing care for all, not a select group. I should have added that in my original post. Speaking to different Muslims, there are no issues to provide care as a healthcare worker.

LPNs to RN: does your experience count
The area that I live, 2 years experience as a LPN counts as 1 year RN experience (for pay only). But you will still be put through the RN new grad program, just with a higher pay.

Working as a CNA as a muslim?
Walaikum Salam, I am speaking from a managers point. *Yes, you may wear your Hijab, that is not an issue. *I have not seen too many long sleeved scrubs, but you can wear a long sleeve shirt under your scrubs. May sure to get good quality under shirts! *It really depends. I highly suggest you speak to your clinical professor and future employers about what you can and cannot do before hand. I have hired a Muslim nurse that was very shy, but I asked her to be very honest with me. We were able to work out a good plan where her patient care does not interfere with her beliefs. That being said, you still will need to show competency will all the skills as your fellow mates and it is important to discuss this with your professors. Also, once working as a CNA, work with your team. If there is something that you prefer not to do, ask one of your fellow CNA's or Nurse and switch a task! For example, while they do the male catheter for you, you can assist another one of their female patients to the toilet.

Let's Share Our Healthy Snacks!!
My go-to snacks are almonds and fresh fruit. I love berries! Each day I go into work, I bring almonds, fruit (strawberries, raspberry, blueberry and cranberries) water with cucumbers or lemon and sugar free gum. I concentrate better when I chew... I also have a coffee and tea bar in my office. I eat a salad for every lunch ( I mix the meats to keep it interesting). Stay hydrated!

Nurses Week
I think it is important to show appreciation all year around, but I have planned to celebrate with nurses on my team for this special week. I could not have asked for a better team and I want them to know how much they mean to their patients, the company and myself. Today, I had a special brunch planned for them and they know to expect a special delivery tomorrow, to get the week officially started. Each day for the next week, they will get something special, then I have something "big" planned at the end of Nurses Week. I have worked at places where nurses went unnoticed/unappreciated and I made a promise to not be that type of manager. A simple "Thank You" goes a long way. (sorry for the ramble, but I have strong feelings on this subject!). HAPPY NURSES WEEK!!!!! :)
