by k3104 Mar 10, '11OK, now that I am over the shock of getting a CPNE date so quick... Any advice from Utica CPNE graduates? Did you like the city, the facility. I have not had a moment to look up the facility. Is it a smaller facility? Did you get a peds patient? Where is a good/cheaper place to stay.
Thanks for any feedback!!!

- Mar 10, '11 by meme048I stayed at the Holiday Inn. It was nice, and close to the Hospital. It is a smaller Hospital and the staff were friendly. There was 6 of us testing only one got a peds pt. and we all passed. It was a great place to test.
- Mar 13, '11 by k3104Thank you meme048 for your reply! Love to see that all 6 of you passed and a smaller friendly facility. I was glad to get this location and not Albany. 2months until CPNE, I am living, breathing, and world is revolving around CPNE right now!!
- Mar 13, '11 by happydrunkcatI passed in Utica a little more than a year ago. Loved the place. Everybody were so friendly! The pediatric floor is kind of small, but it was full when I was there, so everybody got kids as patients. I failed my first patient - a small girl, about 16 month old. She hated white uniforms
Her parents was very friendly and very helpful though. It was completely my fault, I was so ready to get out of the room, away from the crying baby, I weighted her with her diaper on
My CE was trying to give some hints, she said something like : "Do not put the scales back to the storage room yet", then "Do not go back to the room without me".. And I'm thinking: "Why in the world I would want to go back? I don't"
Listen to your CE
Second kid was awesome - 9 year old, with his parents in the room. All very supportive and cooperative. Passed with no problem.
It was 6 of us, we all failed one patient on Saturday. And all cases were completely our faults, nobody could say that CEs were unfair. They were great. Very supportive.natnat122 likes this. - Mar 15, '11 by anjule18So happy for you K3104!!!! You are on your way!!!! I'm taking LS1 3-25, then LS2 and 3 to go for nursing and have 10 gen credits yet. then FCCA and CPNE. I did see after the LS3 is done I can do FCCA and clinical, maybe I will. Have time to think. I need to pass LS1 first! Thanks for your posts, you are helping me and I'm sure others with your positive posts!

You will do fine. I am going to be at Utica, Faxton St. Lukes the same weekend. You said you work per diem? Are you a LPN? Good luck to us all!
Best wishes! - Apr 4, '11 by LoopsRN2Quote from happydrunkcatI know this is going to sound stupid, but I really don't know much about the CPNE yet except; Are we able to fail one patient and still pass CPNE?I passed in Utica a little more than a year ago. - Apr 4, '11 by k3104Mr. Nurse, Yes, I am a LPN. Do you feel you are ready yet? how are you studying? Did you take a workshop? I haven't seen any negative posts on Utica, looks like we got a good site. Now just have to prepare and feel confident!
Loops, you also have four simulation lab stations. You are allowed one retake on each one if you have to. - Apr 5, '11 by mr.nurse1234Happydrunkcat,
