Would anyone know how to go about becoming an independent nurse? where you are paid by medicare/medicaid? Any info would greatly b appreciated!!!!!!

I moved the thread to the Nure Entrepreneur Forum.

There is much research on this, one of my favorite topics Let's see what my colleagues can say.

It sounds like you have found a position? YOu should propbably talk with an acountant for help with medicaid and meidcare payments.

Let us know how we can help.

Teddybear.....I am independently contracted with a Medicaid Waiver Program--I bill the contracting agency for my services each month and my fees are paid through a State funding program which is linked directly to Medicaid. I have held contracts like this with my State for the past seven years and just recently decided not to renew one contract d/t extreme scheduling conflicts. (I am a VERY busy self-employed nurse!)

I may suggest that you contact your regional Medicaid office to see what kind of contractural nursing opportunities they might have in your area.

Let us know how you make out.

Peace,

Lois Jean

one STUPID question.... as you may see I am still a jr member...how do u "move your thread"?

As a poster, you may ask a Moderator to do this. Moderators are able to move threads. Just let us know how we can help you.

Ok thanks on update on how to move things...lol

Teddy--find the Home and Community Based Waiver Program for your area. You should be able to access this information from any Senior Center or Council on Aging. You can access information regarding Mediciad programs at the U.S. Government Health and Human Services website.

Hope this helps-

Peace,

Our business started with my wife being an independent medicaide provider. Instead of working for local agencies she had her own provider number directly with medicaid. She would submit her own paperwork directly and get paid directly from medicaid. Cut out the middle man. If that worked for her with medicaid, I figured it could work with hospitals and it has.

Thanks for the additional info! What else do you care to share about working with Medicaid Waiver Contracts?

Is she a NP or some other type of APN?

In case David does not see this right away, it is my understanding she is an RN.
