Hi everyone,

I just recently incorprorated. So I'm not exactly an IC because I am an employee of the corporation but it is the same idea. I have started out by contracting with agencies, so many have been happy to work with another corp and the tax benefit to me is incredible. My significant other has been on me for a while to do this. He actually handled all the paperwork and will continue too. I admit I probably would not have done it if I had needed to figure it out on my own. I'm very excited and not being *owned* by an employer with set hours/set days is heaven to me.

My question is this: I'm currently in a full-time staff position with a facility I like. I'm about to go per diem, my question is has anyone (who has incorporated) approached their employer( if you were staff) about contracting with you? I have seen lots of posts about aproaching places you have had a contract with through another agency but what about approaching one where you are staff ? It's not huge issue, I will certainly stay on as a per diem employee with them if I have too but would of course prefer not too. I just feel kind of funny approaching them with it. Feedback appreciated. Thanks-

Sue

You normally will need to follow their protocol that they have in place, as if you were just to go to work for an agency, which you are essentially doing. Most have a clause that you cannot work agency in that facility for usually one year after leaving. Some are only six months.

Check out what their policy is.

Thank you, I will do that.
