i have a friend who only uses essential oils, like do terra. she is a RN and only believes in them( instead of antibotics ectra), she works for hospice( and uses the usual meds ) and uses the oils on her pts. i do believe they help. does anyone else use them? i actually love them and find they work. what do you think about them ? and does your work ever use them? i would love to have them at work( not gonna happen), my friend has a okay to use them for hospice. thank you for your input .

Actually, "alternative medicine" USED to be just medicine until it got railroaded by the AMA, pharmacy companies, etc. After those money-grubbing entities were done brainwashing the public, there was no going back. I have used oil of oregano quite successfully as an antibiotic many times (it is ingested, not "smelled") as well as apple cider vinegar and silver. Gold, the element, is used in rheumatoid arthritis. Honey is antibacterial and is used to keep wounds clean. I have also used local honey successfully to "immunize" myself against local allergens. Turmeric is anti-carcinogenic and reduces inflammation. EVERYONE knows reduction of stress aids healing and lavender (yes, you DO smell this) is used to this end. This is not witchcraft- this is based on centuries of observation and, more recently, studies. Many medications that are sold today are derived from plants.

I am a true believer in essential oils as an "alternate" to using pharmaceuticals. I have completely stopped taking Ibuprofen, benadryl, claritin, hydrocodone, and xanax and instead use young living essential oils. Lemongrass and ginger have prevented me from needing a scope in my knee. The ligaments and cartilage have healed, and i am completely functional without the need for NSAIDS and opiates - which as we all know have bad side effects. Cedarwood helps me have a restful sleep, Thieves and Oregano have kept me well and not needing Abx, I use citronella instead of OFF bug spray, I take lemon, lavender, and peppermint daily for seasonal allergies. the list goes on and i've never felt better. They aren't a "placebo", they are absorbed into your blood stream, they don't disrupt intercellular communication, PLUS no digestion or harm to your liver and kidneys. As a nurse, i wish I was able to incorporate these oils in to my patients' plan of care because I know first hand they will help with a number of ailments, especially with nausea, pain, and rest.

Using essential oils for all of my healthcare, for my family and yes, in the work place- on the way to nurse initiated protocols for - nausea, anxiety, sleep, pain, infection. There are thousands of peer reviewed articles to support - the evidence is there. Using essential oils is working the nurses scope of practice and i would advocate- it is our responsibility to find natural solutions whenever possible. Decrease the toxic load - for us and our patients. High quality essential oils are a power tool for nurses! ReimagineWellness.org for some of the research.

Essential oils if used properly and the right kind, can be extremely beneficial:)

there are are risks such as allergies (of course as with anything )

and using the right kind. Pharm grade and organic with no additives can be safely used if diluted in proper carrier substances, and making sure that they are okay for topical use, and things like that. One should not use an oil topically that is only meant for diffusing.

aside from knowing precautions like that it's very useful and natural.
