yet another agency adventure

went to new hospital last week through a new agency I signed on. A friend of mine that works for them recommended me. I had a good day there and thought the place was okay. Their ER is staffed about 50% by agency. A couple of days later my friend calls and says the agency nurses there told her she better not bring any more "friends" to work there because I am taking away their hours and they have been there longer.

I can only do one/two days a week there at the most anyway. And it is a 85 mile drive one way for me.

I told the agency I wouldn't go back there. I don't want to breath the same air as such nasty witches.

Can you believe how rotten some people are.

I do some agency work just because I get every other week off and don't need 7 days off in a row. I only go to one location and have established myself pretty well there. I have not picked up other locations because this one seems to have all the hours I need and I hate to start from scratch again trying to earn respect and get to know names again. I probably never will work a lot of locations like some friends of mine because just getting to know each dept's "system" of charted etc is so daunting.

I hope you find a better dept. that treats you well and respects you...keep looking and when you find one stick with it so you become part of the team and they forget you are agency making twice what they are making...lol

When the "home" nurses try to give me a hard time about how much I'm making I just tell them I have a "day" job too and they could supplement their income just like I am if they wanted to.

I wonder if it ever occurs to those little darlings that if you weren't working with them, their workloads and responsibilities would be a lot heavier? BTW, it isn't very easy for an ER nurse to fake skills-you either have them or you don't, and they show up pretty quickly. They should be thanking their lucky stars that they got an experienced nurse to be helping them. If they were covering the available shifts, there wouldn't have been one open for you, right? Some folks just don't know when they are well off.
