I am trying to come up with a different schedule for the ED that I work in. We have 2 nurses from 8am-midnight, currently we have 4-primary nurses that work 12 hour shifts (7-7), 2 second nurses that work 8 hours (8-4/4-12), and 2 swing type nurses that do a mix of 8 & 12 hours (1 for days & 1for evening/nights). Does anyone have any suggestions?

What are you looking for? Different start times? Different shifts? extra staff during peak times?

All our nurses are 12 hour people, and we have 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, and 7p-7a. Our staffing is staggered based on our typical volume. 4 nurses 7a, up to 6 at 11a, then 7 from 3p-11p, 5 from 11p-3a, then back to 4 from 3a-7a.
