Hello Friends,

I am making this thread because I have an interview this week for the ER locally.

I am very excited and do not want to mess up this interview in any way. I have been an RN for almost 20 yrs, It has been 1999 since I have worked in the ER. At that time I was ACLS and TNCC certified. I worked in ER for about 5 yrs. From there I went into nursing management as DON in LTC settings.

Now, I really want to go back to the ER as I felt very comfortable there.

I have, with great enthusiam, been searching for an ACLS class and reading up on all I can in anticipation of returning to the ER. Maybe I should have waited to actually be hired before getting so excited, but I really want this job. I think I will be very sad if I loose this opoortunity. (Is that something that is fair to say at an interview)

So wish me luck, say a prayer and/or share a well wisher here..

I will keep you informed

By the way, I am aware of the 2005 changes to ACLS, but I am hearing there is also a 2007 update? can you tell anything about this???

Thanks

Mo

Good luck to you on your interview!!!! I think that since you are trying to get ACLS done again shows that you have a great interest and are

serious about returning to the ER. The interviewer should be able to pick up on your enthusiasm also. YOU will do fine and get your job..

Just be prepared to ask the right questions and answer their questions.

With all of your experience you should be a good candidate. Keep up posted!!!!!!

Specializes in ICU, ER.

I left ICU (after ten years) for the business world for ten years. Returned to ICU for one year, and now in ER for almost three. It will all come back to you, and your maturity and management experience will be an asset to any ER. Good luck, if they have any sense, they will be nervous about hiring you just as you are nervous about getting hired.

Any suggestions of a particularly important question I shoud be asking? I wonder about the patient to nurse ratio, but this is a huge ER with multiple nurses tations throughout, I would not think the case load would be ridiculously high or unsafe. The hospital I have applied to is listed as in the top 100 best hospitals.

Thanks for the replies.. (((((((((((((( hugs )))))))))))))))))))) for the encouragement!!
