ER Nurse's who like to fish/hunt & enjoy the Outdoors

by MacERRN

Greetings all: Interesting reading all these threads indicating our problems are not isolated to certain regions, but rather a national problem with poor staffing, over crowed ER's with non-emergant pts, being lead by incompentent managers, and low saleries.

Just wondering if we have other things in common, like fresh water fishing, or enjoying the outdoors, ie.,camping, hunting? Several of us are trying to get together this spring and fish after work. It's better than hitting the taverns, or strip clubs, as far as debriefing after a nasty shift. Post what you like to do as far as outdoor leisure. Maybe we can do some swap fishing trips, hunting trips, etc.

My wife and I love to spend time outdoors. We hike, rock climb, rappel, camp, and I try to go on at least one hunt a year. My parents are big into fly fishing; however, I am not much of an angler. Did a couple of winter float trips in Montana years back as a nursing student and had quite a bit of fun.

Spent some time hunting in Arkansas last year with another ER RN friend. We hunted white-tail in Wyoming the year before that. At some point, we want to do a hunting trip in Alberta.

i'm trying to find people to do long hikes with, and i'm also trying to get into hunting eventually, but i don't know the first thing about it.

Saw abunch of critters running around that I thought was a pack of dogs...turned out to be deer. Our deer grow much bigger her in Iowa. Thabnks for the reply...good hunting/fishing

My family & I love to camp, boat, fish etc. our last wonderful trip was to the Blue Ridge Mtns on the Georgia border. This is a wonderful way for my husband(a fireman/emt) to chill out and enjoy ourselves & family. Also Tennessee has some very nice areas to go & unwind.

tara wildlife refuge is a great place never been there, went to glasscock island, just outside natchez for a 2 day hunt. yep you fellas in iowa grow some big deer. i've heard stories from folks of them getting around 250-300lbs. a big buck here in mississippi is about 215-220lbs maybe 190'ish in the rut. matter of fact i'm trying to get things together with a few of my pals for a whole memorial weknd of bass fishin....

I work a weekend package Fri. Sat 19-07 and will be fishing during the week. Sunday am after work I'm heading North to Alexandria Minn. for a week of walleye fishing. Nothing better than a walleye shore lunch!!!

Hello all
I am currently finishing my LPN program, done 6-20. Then NCLEX and start ADN 7 -14. I love to hunt and fish here in Kansas or anywhere in mid west. My Last season was one day hunting a local farm for upland I got limits on pheasant quail and ducks, I was happy to cram my season in to one day with those kind of results. I was hunting with a classmate's husband another perk of Nursing school. My wife and I fish Lake Texhoma. My inlaws have a house and FIL has a boat and lots of guide friends. School gets in the way of out door hobbies for now. I did get 2 days on spring break to Estes Park CO. Fly fishing for local trout. Better get to more drug cards for next weeks L&D clinical.
