Hi all,

After a year and a half on a medsurg/tele floor I made the move to an ED and have been there for about 6 months. I am thinking about sitting for the CEN exam in the next few months as i'll be moving and afraid I won't be able to land an ED job without the magical "1 year ED experience" (I'll be at about 10 months). I'm really very good at test taking and think my fundamental nursing knowledge is pretty solid. Is it a waste of money for me to try to take the exam without TNCC/ENPC? TIA.

Most folks (myself included) seemed to get 2 years of ed experience before taking the cen. There are exceptions of course. Everybody is different.

Do you have any trauma experience? If no, then tncc would probably benefit you. Same with enpc (which every rn who deals with peds should take).
