Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis

Hey all. Just a question. I've tried finding the answer online and I'm not having any luck.

My cousin has (had?) focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and had both his kidneys removed. He goes for some sort of dialysis every couple days. My question is, if he doesn't have kidneys, can he drink? Can he eat food that has any water content? And if not, how does he not dehydrate? Since he obviously cannot urinate, does the fluid just build up in random places until he has his dialysis done? We had a benefit for him the other day and I did not want to ask him because he didn't look so good and I was just hoping to find the answers on my own. Oddly enough his girlfriend is a match and she will be donating a kidney to him in the next couple weeks (guess he picked the right girl, eh?). It's a very sad situation. He's losing his eyesight and it breaks my heart to think that he wont be able to see his 2yr old son anymore...or possibly worse. So any info or links you can pass my way will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
