Elevated troponin level

I know that dialysis pt's can have elevated troponins without MI, but how elevated is considered to be WNL for a renal pt? Also, would the troponin level be expected to go down after dialysis? Thanks!

What WNL is?

WNL = within normal limits

1. Troponin is large molecule, consequently it is not expected to go down after dialysis.

2. "Normal" level of troponin for uremic patients is not clear. I have not found it in litreture.

Also you may want to remember that renal failure Pts usually have a degree of CAD (coronary artery disease) which in turn puts strain on the ole ticker so I would watch it closely but only be concerned with a pretty significant increase. Also Trop I is cardiac specific Trop M not so much more of a muscle involvement just fyi
