Dialysis training question...why different location?

Ok - I have just started working for a dialysis clinic this week. Everyone is very nice..I am doing mostly computer stuff/paperwork but will start training next week. My question..which I can't seem to get a straight answer for is...why are new hires sent to other clinics to train? Literally other states..it can't be to save money because they are going to pay mileage, etc. Aren't there people in the clinics where we will be working that have enough experience to provide the training? One new hire had to drive 4 hours to the clinic I was at just to watch the DVD's..she was told this is because our clinic is the only one w/them...she is also going to be sent out of state -as am I - for company orientation. I must be missing something....

They did it to me too. I had to travel to another state to train and it cost me a ton of money. They said they would reimburse me mileage but only ended up covering a tiny percentage of what I actually had to drive. I had to do 2 days in the other state and 3 days in my home clinic per week the days were not in order so back and forth back and forth. Yuck.

Did it get any better? I found out I am going to do be doing a LOT of traveling over the next 2 months for education and training and I really do not understand why and no one can seem to tell me. I wasn't aware ANY traveling was involved for this particular position. It seems many of the employees go to different states or clinic to clinic on a regular basis.. As far as the mileage, I was told I would get the mileage but now and being told it's based on a grid of some sort or a chart.

Send me a private message, for some reason I can't send you one. I know we work for the same company I suspect we might be in the same state. Let's chat.
