here's another question to add to the pile..

when is the deadline to apply to the nursing program in the spring? if not an exact date, any idea of whereabouts? Is applying to the nursing program the same as taking the NLN, or does the NLN come after?

Hi you need to take the NLN as soon as possible. You can check when the next one is on the college website. The whole process for the nursing program has changed, because of so many applicants. At the Terry campus you need to have Composition,A&P1,A&P2( a B in both classes) clinical math (DONE)also at least a B and then you can apply. You must apply each semester there is no longer a waiting list. You really need to talk to a nursing advisor.I ended up applying for LPN even though I have all my classes for RN done because of the competition for clinical seats.I got tired of waiting, then I'll apply for the Advanced placement RN program. It's a very tough program,so be ready!!!Lots of luck to you!!!

forgive me if I'm wrong but I assumed the NLN was the pre-admissions test deltech has applicants take? I was also looking at taking classes at the Stanton campus, so maybe the procedure is also different there, because after talking to a counselor I assumed we take the pre-admission test after completing the pre-req classes and not before it. I didn't ask to specify, but there will be an upcoming nursing major info session in July I'll attend that will clear things up. I wanted to ask here for deadlines because the counselor told me that on Stanton at least, they review applicants for enrollment once a year every spring only, and I really want to get in then...but if Terry campus accepts applicants twice a year I'll definitely look into it. thanks so much for replying to my question. I really hope I'll be up to it!!

Hi I know it's very confusing the way they work the admissions process. But you can take the NLN anytime it's offered I think you just need chemistry. You need to go on the DelTech website and hit programs then hit nursing and a special website for the nursing program will come up on there the schedule for the NLN will be posted.I urge you to take this as soon as possible because you need this to be eligible to even apply for the nursing program at all.The Terry campus accepts students twice a year,in August and Jan.The August clinicals are already full and I think the Jan. applications are due by August 22nd or 23rd.You can apply if you have all your pre req. done or if you have them scheduled for the Fall semester and pass them.Like I said it is very confusing, and they keep changing the rules.Good luck you can do it!!!!

The Pre-admission test is completely different than the NLN. You will take the Pre-admission test immediately after you apply to the college, that is what determines which pre-requisites you are placed in. The NLN depends on the campus, but I do believe you can take it whenever you want at any campus (I have attended 3 out of 4 of the campuses). At the Stanton Campus your NLN score gives you points. All of your pre-reqs also give you points and you are placed by a ranking system. Obviously people with higher points will be placed first. This is how it was last time I checked, but as the other poster said things change frequently.

Visit the website and attend that meeting. Do not be a minute late because they will not let you in.

    Goodluck!

i think the programs and the instructors are great....the only down side is that the instructors seem to preach how hard it is, and that not everyone will make it rather than encourage you. but if you're like me, you'll encourage yourself and make it through. the program itself well prepares you for working in the nursing field. i'd go for it!

    Wassup fellow Del techers,

My wife and I just got seats into the Deltech Owens campus that start in January. We are very excited . We were attending the Terry campus for our pre req classes and placed our names on the infamous clinical waiting list. Then the big bang happened when they dumped everybodys name off the list and required you to reapply along with new standards at Terry campus. We had already been on the list 9 months prior to to being dumped off the list. We finally got tired of the uncertainty and lack of a graduation date. So 2 days before the new changes at Terry Campus became official we applied for Owens clinicals. We waited one semester before we were accepted into Owens clinicals. Which BTW, for those who don't know it is impossible to do this at Terry Campus.
The students that we had Anatomy + Phys I and II classes with are still at Terry Campus waiting and hoping for a clinical seat. Sad, but true.

When we went to our first mandatory meeting we found out there were only 32 spots for Day clinicals. This rubbed a few people the wrong way who wanted a Day clinical spot. Man you could cut the tension in the room with a knife at that moment. LoL Well, needless to say my wife and I got exactly what we wanted night/evening clinicals. Well I think I've said enough for now. I wish all you Del 'techers good luck.

I applied to the Terry campus. I wasn't told of a waiting list or the new standards. Can you please explain this to me? How difficult is it to get in? I overheard that their LPN grads get first preference into the RN program. Is this true? I feel like I'm in the dark. Appreciate any info.

You should speak to an advisor in order to get a run down on what is required at DTCC Terry Campus nursing program.
To answer your question there isn't a waiting list any more because they got rid of it this past January and at the same time they change their standards. These changes mean you have to reapply every year during the enrollment period and hope your grades and NLN score is high enough to grab one of the very limited amount of seats available at Terry Campus. In other words, if you don't get an "A" in the following classes A&P I, A&P II, and Clinical math along with achieving a high NLN score. Don't automatically expect them to have a clinical seat waiting for you. What some people are doing is taking A&P I and A&P II over again (even though they already passed it) in order to get an "A". They are doing this in order to increase their point total so they can beat out other students for clinical seats.

With these new standards implemented in January at Terry Campus. Its very possible that hypothetically speaking a student with "B" and "C" grades in A&P I, A&P II, Clinical math plus a low NLN score may NEVER get a clinical seat! On the same token, a person with all "B" grades along with an average NLN score may be left reapplying 2-3 times before they get a seat. All these possibilities in turn makes DTCC Terry Campus ultra competitive because nobody wants to use 5+ years to attain an associates degree .

LPN grads have their own clinical program and their own alotted clinical seats. So thats probably why it may be a little easier to get in. That is all I know about that program.
