Questions regarding CCRN

When you are applying to take the CCRN do you have to send them documentation of your work hours? How do they know if you've really worked the correct amount of hours in the right setting?

Also, would you take the CCRN if you were about to move into a job where you would not utilize those types of skills? I want to take it just to add the letters to my signature, but I am moving into an ADON position with a childrens home health agency so the certification won't matter for this particular job.

You don't send any documentation about your work hours. When you apply, they ask for a contact person that can verify your hours. I have heard they do random audits to verify random people's hours. I've only heard of 1 person in my unit that was audited after passing the exam.

I would say take the exam even if you are switching jobs. It's a great accomplishment and shows your dedication.

You don't have to present any document but its good to have it ready though because one of my friend had to suffer because of the audit. They randomly audit and ask for your documents or contact your employer.

It won't be relevant with your career move. If you don't remain in critical care, you will be unable to recertify in 3 years. Pediatric certification might be a better option.
