CCRN anyone?

So, I've decided to sign up for the CCRN exam. I've been considering it for the past few months, and decided to go for it. I've been at the point the last several months where I've been a "go to" person, so I figured now was an appropriate time for me. It is an expensive test, and I won't get an increase in pay for it, but I still decided to do it because I missed studying and taking exams. Pretty much, I miss school, but I'm not going to go back yet since I'm at the age where I'd like to start a family, and, while school won't be easier once I have kids, I have a supportive hubby who will pick up the slack when I do go back. I'm also not 100% sure if I want to pursue the NP, education, or CRNA route (pretty sure I would enjoy all of them), so I'd rather be 100% sure for obvious reasons. This is also one of those things, keeping bureacracy in mind, that just looks good on a resume, doesn't it?

So, who is with me here? Anyone? It'll be a few weeks until my eligibility is confirmed, but I ordered my books, just waiting on them to arrive. If there are enough interested people, I thought I'd start the fact throwing thread that they had for NCLEX, etc. I did see one on here for the CCRN, but the poor OP only had a few interested takers.

If interested in posting a few things, being somewhat active, reply with a "Me,", "Yes," or something to that effect.

I enjoy writing test questions, used to do that in nursing school for my classmates, so once I actually start studying, maybe I'll write some and post them. Would be good if I were familiar with the kinds of questions they ask first, though, wouldn't you agree? lol.

Have a good one!

That would be awesome! I'm in!

I just passed the CCRN-Pediatric exam a couple weeks ago. Pay close attention to the 'test-taking strategies' portion of the study materials. It saved by butt.

I just decided to take it too, which books are you using to study?

I started a random fact throwing: PCCN/CCRN edition thread awhile back, but didn't get anyone interested, unfortunately. I would love to contribute more information. I'm studying for my PCCN, but it's been on and off for awhile now. I would get really motived, then I would have to go back to work and then I take a break from studying again.

I don't have a choice to start slacking, though. I already registered for my exam, I just need to pick an exam date and I have until mid-April to do so. I just need the motivation!

I just passed my CCRN yesterday, and I couldn't really find the info I wanted here... so I'll post it myself.

I took nine, 150 question practice tests within 2 weeks of my actual test. My scores were, in order:

100, 96, 100, 105, 105, 108, 103, 111, 98. Those are questions correct out of 150. The tests were from Pass CCRN CD, AACN review book, and Kaplan book/online test.

Average score over 9 tests: 102.89. I passed with 103/150.

Conclusion: Practice tests are an accurate predictor of performance. For me anyways.

Good to know. I took two PCCN practice exams - the one through David Woodruff and I also purchased the practice exam through the AACN. I passed both. Yet I still haven't taken the PCCN because I'm nervous!!!

Congratulations, btw! :D

The Pass CCRN! book is excellent. If you search CCRN on iTunes, you should be able to find CCRN review podcasts by Cammy-House Francher. Excellent review for those studying for the CCRN or PCCN, and best of all it's free! The only downside is there are no visuals and she does refer to the handout at times, but it is still a wealth of information. And I think Cammy is a fabulous educator. She makes concepts easier to understand.

Actually, you passed with 103/ 125. The very beginning of the exam tells you that 25 of the questions are not scored, but are there as potential future exam questions. Congrats!!

Great! Alright, let's start :). I just received one of my CCRN books in the mail, and my other book is due to arrive sometime this week. I got the Pass CCRN book, and the AACN book.

The other day when I was trying to get to sleep for a few hours during the day (work nights), I started reading the preface. I fell asleep in 5 minutes. Don't know why I read the preface, would be enough to put anyone to sleep lol. I'm going to start some practice questions now, and once my other book gets here (the book that has more outlines, materials), I will start putting up some questions, facts, etc.

Happy studying everyone!
