I am going to start working in corrections soon at 33rd corrections in Orlando Fl. Wanted some advice I would really appreciate it thanks.

Be pleasant but not overly friendly. Be careful about too much "hands-on" nursing. Don't share personal information with inmates (I don't even keep photos in my office). Stick to policy to guide your actions. Don't offer to do favors for inmates. Be mindful of your environment: sharps and medications left unattended are favorite targets for inmates. The custody mantra of "fair, firm and consistent" will also serve you well in the medical area.

Corrections can be an exceptionally rewarding field of medicine. It can also be an exasperating one at times.

Amen to everything Orca said...nicely put. Eyes open, head on straight, good assesment skills, good / fair attitude...you are not the judge and jury... Good luck it's awesome fun!

Yes, I would agree, the backbone really is fair firm and consistant. A Captain told me the only day "An inmate can only do three things for you: get you fired, sue you, and take your pension." Just remember that they are not your friend. But treat them with respect and they will treat you with respect (most of the time).
