Internship Hartford Hospital vs. Saint Raphael's

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding where to take an internship? My two choices are Hartford Hospital or Saint Raphael's... I just want to make sure I get a really good learning experience... has anyone heard anything? I'm looking at going into the ED... Thanks!

I have done clinicals on the maternity floor and north 9 (trauma/nuero) in Hartford Hospital and I really enjoyed it. Every day I saw something new and I really learned a lot more than other classmates who were placed at other smaller hospitals (like manchester and middlesex). A very diverse/urban hospital with tons of different things going on all the time. For the most part the staff was nice, of course you run into a few nurses who are not so nice but that wasn't really a problem. I would totally recomend Hartford Hospital because you really do see a lot. I have requested it again for next semester. I can't tell you about st. raphael's due to the fact that I have never been there. Good luck! :D

I am a student nurse tech at the Hospital of St Raphael and it has been a great experience!!! I was hired during my break last December. I work flexi( they only require a minimum of 2 shifts a month), then they will offer you a higher rate of pay and higher sign on than an outside new grad..this past summer, we were offered several education days specialized towards student nurses( all but one was paid time)..as well as a requirement that 20% of our scheduled time this summer was just for shadowing an RN..awesome experience!!!

i would say HH, they have a level 1 trauma for their ED, and the hospital has Magnet status. they have a lifestar program as well, which you could possibly shadow.

How long did it take after submitting your application to get a response from St Raphael's. Does anyone know if they let you know if you did not get the position.

TIA
