half question/half vent!

U.S.A. Connecticut

Hi I am just looking for suggestions of places nurses can work besides a hospital or nursing home. Like not just at a "clinic" or "insurance company", but specific places in CT - esp those that are willing to hire new nurses.

Also on another note I am sick of hearing all this "oh once you are a nurse you can pick the place you work, pick you salary, pick you hours, never be outta of a job, blah blah". This is such BS!! Hardly anywhere is hiring, and those places that are right now want experienced nurses and only night shift. I'm sick of this hiring freeze too - figures the time I am graduating!!

thanks so much! :)

We are in a recession, I am sure when they told you about job opportunities in nursing was not last year or this year. I do hope you find something soon though. Good luck!

This is another thing I dont understand. How can they justify this excuse in HEALTHCARE?! Reccession or not, hospitals don't have less patients, less workload, or things they can skimp on! Just doesnt make sense to me.

I know there have been many nurses in the school system that have lost their jobs and now are working in hospitals and other areas. The State of Connecticut will let go a few more nurses this month. Hospitals still have patients, but nurses who would work in other areas, cant find jobs; therefore, are working in hospitals.

Also when people lost their jobs, they lost their insurance too; therefore; cannot get certain procedures done.
