Connecticut Community Colleges - Applying for 2014

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I've read through last year's version of this thread 100 times, so I thought I'd start a new one. I'm planning to apply for NCC's 2014 program. I'm taking A&P I right now (A- midterm grade, hoping to make that an A!) and will need to do the software applications class online in the winter session, so I won't be able to submit my app until final grades are out for that. Hopefully I won't be cutting it too close to the Feb 1st deadline! I'm taking my TEAS on November 18th.

Who else is applying? Where are you in the application process? Post your TEAS scores and GPA stats if you know them! My nursing GPA will be almost a 3.8 with an A- in A&P and an A in CSA105, but I dropped out two semesters in a row in 2006 (one semester medically excused but still on my transcript, the other no excuse, just screwed up being 19 and not very serious about my education at that time) I hope those hiccups won't count against me too much, luckily none of the classes I was taking at the time applied to the nursing program.

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding admissions to community colleges. I am new to CCs and just filled out admission application onlinemy only plan is to take some pre-reqs at CCs and apply for uconn nursing program in future. Do I need to take a placement test before I can register for classes. Any help will be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

Yes, I believe that you do. I did when I started at the community college.

I was wondering if anyone had heard from Norwalk about when we should buy our books, and if we need to do anything more then what was on the email about all the health forms. I was talking to another student from a different school and they have already received a ton of information. Any input would be wonderful, just want make sure I didn't miss an email! ?

Norwalk never sent me ANY email. I had to have a friend forward me hers. But I wonder if that was because I did all that last year because I was in the program but didn't pass. So I emailed them last week but they never responded.

Ok nevermind. They sent it to my school email.

The only email I received was a list of small things to do, the OSHA, the certified profile for health forms and CPR, a list of approved uniforms and the mandatory orientation in August. Are you attending Norwalk this year?

I thought I didn't receive it, but they had sent it to my school email. I had it set up so that it would forward things to my regular email, but it didn't do it with this one. So I'm getting everything a month late. I just sent an email asking if I had to bring everything in again. Hopefully they'll respond soon. And yes, I am attending Norwalk this year.

Ok I just found out that their class is the same day of NCC orientation. ...

Sooo I found the cheapest to be CODE ONE TRAINING.

Use the code NCC and the course is $60 + $20 for the book.

They have a class July 26th.

Hi! Thanks for the information, I have my CPR done already, thank goodness ? it is one less thing to do!

Did you get your books or uniforms yet? I went yesterday and got the bundle of books, still need the other two on the list. I'm having a hard time finding the exact uniform, the uniform stores do not keep those item numbers in stock, so I had to order them online, still waiting for them to ship. I'm so excited to start, but loving every minute before starting as it's going to be a crazy ride!!

I couldn't take my CPR earlier, since I'm taking Micro this summer... I wanted to wait until I'm done with the class lol

Do you have the book list??? I only got the uniform info from Norwalk CC :(

Where did you find the book info?

If you go onto the ncc website under course, go to nursing, and click on books required for nur 101. One is a bundle that cost $380.00 , one is a math for meds book and the other is a sim chart book. I only bought the bundle for now, it has 6 items in it.

I am also taking mirco this summer and can't wait for it to be over!! :)

Hope I helped on finding the book list.
