BHSN: Applying to Bridgeport Hosp for Fall 2013

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Hi All,

I thought I would start a new topic for those of us who are planning to apply to BHSN's Nursing program for the Fall 2013.

I will get things started with my stats (which aren't great...but not too terrible!):

TEAS - 78% (planning to re-take)

GPA - 3.2 (currently)

I also applied to GWCC and Southern, so hopefully I will get into one of these programs!

Is it possible for anyone to send me a picture via email of the second page of the pre-admission checklist?

The second page of the checklist has three things:

1. Photo ID Badge - obtained 8/19 - 8/30 from the hospital security office on the main floor. Their hours are 8:30 - 3:30.

2. Student Uniforms - you should have received further info/instructions on this at orientation. You need at least 2 tops and 2 bottoms as well as 1 lab coat -- order them ASAP if you haven't done so already.

3. Textbooks & Stethoscope - the textbook list was provided at orientation (it says that you have to have all your books on hand 9/3...) and that a stethoscope needs to be purchased shortly after school begins.

the drug test, heath forms, CPR cert, , and transcripts are all due by 8/16 (from page 1)

What Teas score do you need to get into BHSN? I'm thinking of applying here? Any information would be helpful?

I don't recall reading anything about a minimum TEAS score when applying. I know the CTCC require a 53.3 - I was accepted at BHSN and my TEAS score was in the 80s

Trixieteal....I have not been so grateful in my 30 years of living

Has everyone bought all of their textbooks yet?

Has everyone bought all of their textbooks yet?

Just got my last few textbooks! I bought a lot of the books used/previous editions to save money. I hope the older edition books work out as far as reading assignments go!

I haven't purchased a stethoscope yet. Any recommendations??

I have most of the books but not all. I had a hard time deciding which to buy in an older edition due to page differences. I always get them used if I can. Haven't gotten my stethoscope yet, but I'm getting a Littman. Nothing too expensive thought i'm working within a budget.

Where did everyone buy their textbooks from?

Got mine from amazon.

Anyone know exactly which practice questions need to be completed in the dosage calculations book?

I bought some new books on amazon and the rest I bought used either on amazon or eBay. My Fundamentals of Nursing book is the 6th edition - I've started the reading assignments and found out that the pages do not match up after chapter 1 (grrrrr) but I found the table of contents for the new edition on the publishers website. The only major difference is that some of the chapters were rearranged. This is a silly question but does anyone know if the school has a library w copies of the textbooks....

The assignment really isn't clear....I am going to do the exercises from pgs 24-27 and 114-116.

The doc that was posted on sonisweb just says to complete the practice questions using dimensional analysis and lists the required reading. The handout that we got at orientation says to complete the questions on pgs 24-27. "Dimensional Analysis" is part of chapter 3 (pgs 76-77, 95-104) so I am assuming complete the practice questions on 114-116 as well.......
