Will be in Colorado Jan 2013

U.S.A. Colorado

I will be moving to colorado in about a year and from reading some of the threads it looks like I will need to be very proactive in my quest for a job. How early should I start applying? I've been doing a lot of research on hospitals in the area. We will be moving to the Highlands Ranch area. I be in colorado to visit at the end of March this year and will be heading to some of the hospitals that interest me to have a look around and possibly talk to a recruiter? Is March too soon to submit a resume?

Btw, I have an ADN with 6 years experience in Telemetry....

Hi Danielle -

With your experience, I don't think you are going to have a problem finding a job. I would wait until a little closer to your move time (around November) to start putting in applications though as its not customary to hold a position open for several months. There are jobs to be had here in Colorado, its just particularly hard for new grads. Good luck in your move and Highlands Ranch is pretty nice!

Thanks very much for the info:) I hope I won't have any trouble. I'm also considering a change to a different area of nursing. I saw that HealthOne has an OR Perioperative Internship for experienced nurses:) I'm going to try to find out how often that is offered

I am not sure how often it is offered however I can tell you that when I worked at Swedish (where the Preiop Program is offered), I loved it! It was a great hospital with great employees! One night, we were running very short staffed and the House Supv. actually helped me to change a brief!

And it's pretty close to Highlands Ranch too, I would say about a 15-20 minute drive due to the traffic. Good luck and Colorado is a beautiful state!
