Waitlist jump for hospital employees??

Can being a hospital employee help in anyway speed up the waiting list with the Colorado Community College System? Does anyone know if the schools hold a certain number of spots for hospital staff? I doubt that this is advertised but...

I know that the University of Colorado Hospital does that. I think a few others do as well. At University Hospital, you have to be employeed there for 1 year prior to applying to the program... in that time you have to have all of the pre-reqs done for the BSN program. They pay you for work, the day you are in class and they have tuition reimbursement. I am currently trying to get on there, but unfortunately it is quite difficult... I need to get my CNA and go that route rather than trying to get an office job.

The community college ADN programs don't jump anyone for any reason. They have enough trouble keeping the list straight as it is. If you go the BSN route, both CU and Regis have work options.

Here in California, it's common. A hospital provides a grant to a nursing program and allows the program to use their hospital as a clinical site. The hospital recieves two benefits. First, they get first crack at hiring the graduating nurses. Second, they typically get a number of seats per entering class set aside for their employees.

John Muir hospital in Walnut Creek CA has an arrangement with Cal State Hayward, whereby Muir gets 20 (out of a class of 80) seats reserved for their employees.

It's a win-win, and a way to avoid the 2-3 year long waiting lists :)

I don't know of any jumps, but some of the more rural area community colleges have much shorter wait-lists than those in the cities. If you're not opposed to rural life, there are three in the Southeast region that I know of that have low/no wait-lists. Those are: Otero Junior College in LaJunta, Lamar Community College in Lamar and one in Trinidad (not sure of the name, but think it's Trinidad State or something like that). Many of them only admit once per year, but usually you can get in on the next admit date and can finish pre-reqs while waiting.
