Considering a nursing career
I don't know if this is offered in FL, but in CO... if you have a Bachelors degree in another area you can just take the applicable science courses and the ones that you might have fallen behind in such as Math or English and then you can get into more schools and possibly quicker because you already have your Bachelors, then you'd just take the few pre-reqs and then end up with your BSN instead of your ADN (Associates Degree) You might want to look into that. I don't have a bachelors degree, and I'm just taking pre-reqs, for the BSN, so this might help you out.

Is it always hard to get into school?
There is a constant battle for Nursing schools. My suggestion is take the pre-reqs for the community colleges first, get on as many of those waitlists as possible. Then start on the ones for a BSN program, that way you have tons of options and you've opened as many doors as possible to get in. I hope that helps.

Why did you take up nursing? What's your story?
How difficult was it to be a mother and to finish Nursing school? I am young and just got married, but I am trying hard to hold off on having kids until I complete my degree. I hear lots of people on here that have done it just fine. I love to see people following their dreams! :dancgrp:

Wait for AS or complete BSN
It makes me feel like there is hope to hear that you have been able to do this. My ultimate goal is to have a degree from CU because that is the number one place I'd like to go. At this point I am just ready to get in somewhere!!! Thank you for the help!

Wait for AS or complete BSN
That is exactly what I am going to try and do. I am going to get on the community colleges wait lists here soon, and I am going to be finished with the pre-requisites for UCDHSC and ready to apply next summer. Did you have a really high GPA? Please let me know! I am trying to keep it as high as possible, but working full time and school full time makes it a litte harder. It is a gamble going back and forth and sometimes it can be very discouraging waiting and waiting. I hope and pray I get in the first time I apply!!! Thanks.

Waitlist jump for hospital employees??
I know that the University of Colorado Hospital does that. I think a few others do as well. At University Hospital, you have to be employeed there for 1 year prior to applying to the program... in that time you have to have all of the pre-reqs done for the BSN program. They pay you for work, the day you are in class and they have tuition reimbursement. I am currently trying to get on there, but unfortunately it is quite difficult... I need to get my CNA and go that route rather than trying to get an office job. I hope this helps.
