what do cnas do on med/surg floors@ hosptials?

my wife and i are cnas and she left the nursing home to pursue a job at a hospital and they hired her for the med/surg floor but we have no clue on what she will do there .does anyone have experience working on a floor similar to this? thanx in advace for your help!

CNA's on med-surg floors, where I've been, do I&O, pass trays, fill water pitchers, ambulate, transport, computer charting, bathe, and change linens daily. Same as LTC but easier I think.

On our floor the CNA's are responsible for taking vital signs q 4H, bathing and bed changes, measuring and recording Input/ Output (including Foleys, colostomy bags and sometimes surgical drains), testing and recording blood sugars, getting snacks and filling pitchers, and doing Safety Rounds (bed alarms on, call light w/i reach, etc). As needed, they may identify a new admission, do EKG's, measure bladder residual by U/S. In between they answer call lights, toilet patients, assist in feeding, ambulate, take a pt who is being discharged down in a W/C. They may be a 1:1 sitter for a confused/ agitated patient. They may if needed assist the RN with changing the dressing on a wound or placing a catheter.
