Nursing Students CNA/MA

Ok, I had been searching everywhere within 20 miles of my city for a job. No call backs, not enough experience, I heard it all. Some even looked at me a little sideways because I'm a 24 year old African-American female. I searched for about 5 months, I was about to give up when I got a call from a facility down the street where my current job is. I went for the interview, they scheduled me for the fingerprints that day, and I just got the call yesterday that I will he going to orientation on the 1st of march! So I was excited, I was at work when she called, I was so excited I closed my eyes real tight and did a little dance right in front of customers! I got some weird looks after that. But The purpose of this post is to say don't give up on your job search. Just like me, you can and will find something. So good luck out there, don't give up. Just keep in mind that the economy is still bad, so money is tight when it comes to hiring and training new nurses, CNAs, LPNs, RNs, ect.

I would like to second this post.I looked everywhere for a cna job for 4 months to get my foot in the door for nursing. I only got one interview and it went horriblle. A couple weeks ago I got a call from one of the best hospitals in the state to interview, and 1 week later I got a call offering the job. And that's with no experience in a big city where there aren't many jobs. I know my story is the exeption rather than the rule right now, but things WILL pick up eventually. If healthcare is really your passion then don't give up. It can happen.
