Scrubs...

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Good Morning,

I am starting my Nurse Aid Training next week :balloons: .... I need your advice...

the hospital provides all the instructional materials but I have to get my scrubs.... what kind of scrubs should I buy? .... I live in PA and is getting cold. Should I buy long sleeves or short? :uhoh3: they only said that "colors are ok".

Thank you so much for your help!

Well, they have to be fairly short sleeved normally. I'm not sure of what your particular class requires, but anywhere you would work would require that the sleeves be above the elbow, as longer sleeves tend to pick up things alone the way and provide an easy method of spreading infection.

And as far as color is concerned, if they left it up to you that's great, but I'd just go with the normal nursing student color - white.

When I was taking my STNA training, we wore white as well. It may be cold outside, but once you get to moving around doing patient care, you're not going to miss the long sleeves. Good luck!

What I normally wear is short sleeves with a scrub jacket over them. The unit I work is normally pretty freezing, so this way I can shed the jacket before going into an isolation room, a code brown, or if I get warm.

Thank you thank you thank you all for taking your time and replying!

I bought a scrub shirt- short sleeve- white, white pants and a color scrub jacket (it was on sale ;) ).

Thanks again for all the advice.
