Phlebotomy/Ekg(ecg) training

I have had my CNA license for a few months now and I have yet to find a job. I am considering taking a phlebotomy or ekg course, but would it help me to get hired at a hospital? Is the pay better? Is it even worth the money and time? Now I'm wishing that I just did a medical assistant program instead, but I just applied to a nursing program which starts in May and I really won't have the time to do that AND do the nursing program if I get accepted. Side note: I live in Jacksonville, Florida so if you live in this area and can give me some advice I would really appreciate it.

Hi I do not leave in that area , but I can tell you I did have the same situation . After a few months since I got certified . Finally I ended up applying for Home care , but when I was going to start, the facility in wich I had applied . Called me for an interview . And I'm stating next week . I also wanted to do the EKG phlebotomy course . But that don't guarantee that you can get hired at a hospital , they usually requires 6 months exp or a year as CNA or hha . If you want to become a pct then do the phleb + EKG . With CNA exp. you will get hired on the spot .

Thanks, I guess I will just try and apply for home health care to gain experience as a cna and once I'm in the nursing program I will just apply to the hospitals then, since they seem to only hire nursing students anyway.
