Pay rate for CNAs in Working in NYC or Westchester, NY

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hello Everyone :-)

I will be in school to become an LPN in September :), but I was thinking of taking the CNA course in the mean time just to get my feet wet in the nursing field. I am currently in the banking world with a very strict schedule. I am going to hold on to that job as long as I can since it's all that I have, but my boss is not flexible at all. It almost feels like she has an attitude because I am trying to better myself. I figured a job as a CNA would also be good because of the flexibility. I'm not expecting to make a lot of money, I'm just wondering exactly how much CNAs in NY are making these days. I heard starting pay is around $12 to $14 an hour. Is this true? Your replies would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank u!

I just posted the same type of question and I haven't received any replies yet... I am in real estate and trying to move into nursing. I start my LPN school in August (nights and weekends) but in the mean time I was wondering if it was worth it to pay $1k for the CNA and phlebotomy class. I spoke to the HR coordinator at a nursing home close to my office and they said they would hire me as soon as I finished the course at $11.50 per hour part time (I am in Texas)... Of course this wouldn't alllow me to quit my current job but I figure it will give me some good experience for when I finished my LPN... Good luck to you!!

Thanks for the heads up mandybu77. The money for the CNA training is my major concern also. $1000 is not easy to come by these days. Good Luck to you too!!
