Med/surg CNA (days)

Nursing Students CNA/MA

So I received my CNA cert in Aug 2014, worked at a convalescence home for approximately 7 months ( that place nearly broke me) and have been fortunate to work at a 6 bed congregate sub acute facility for the past 16 months.

I recently took a job at a local hospital in the med/sug dept who is willing to work around my school schedule which starts in Feb. best of all its ft with benefits and it's day shift 12hr

So I'm alittle nervous because during the interview they asked the whole do you have any questions and well I asked on a bad day how many patients is one CNA assigned they said on a good day 28 bad day could be as many as 40 😳. So ladies and gents give it to me straight what am I up against? lol I did take the acute care class with clinicals but it was really slow. I also don't remember the CNAs being slammed.

That's too many.

That's what I thought too at the convalescence home I worked at we had about 16-20 at night. But surely it can't be as many considering we have to keep a watchful eye on them. I'm wondering if they told me this to test me? Like would I shy away from a heavy run? Am I a slacker? Gotta admit it would be a pretty big test lol
