LNA Training in New Hampshire

Hi everyone. This is my first posting, although I've thouroughly enjoyed reading all the posts over the past few weeks. There's so many terrific thinkers in the forums :) Anyway, I'm 49 and, needing to change careers. I'd like to become an RN but, need to take it one step at a time. I'm going to begin pre-req courses for the summer semester. What I'd like to do in the mean time, is become LNA/CNA certified but, funds are tight right now. I've read in some of the posts that there are facilities in New Hampshire that will train you for LNA certification, at no cost, as long as you agree to put some time in their facilty afterwards. My question is; where are these facilities? Because, any of the ones that I've contacted, don't offer anything like that anymore.

Please advise.

Hi there!!

I'm currently enrolled in MedPro Educational services in Dover, NH, and so far they're great. (I'm a 19 y/o student, I'm paying my own way through school, and I had to get really creative to come up with money to pay for my LNA course)

Here's what I can tell you- I do know that Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth, NH does (last I heard) offer LNA training in exchange for employment.

Also, there's a place in Jaffery, NH (Monadnock region) that offers free LNA training- it's a center for children. And, if I'm not mistaken, there's one up on Madison, NH (white mountains if you're not familiar) that offers free training. If you go to nh.gov/nursing they have a list of all training facilities, and the Jaffrey and Madison ones are both up there. I can't think of the names..

That's all I know about places that offer free training, and they just weren't working with my schedule because I am also a full time student at UNH.

However, if you can come up with about 1000 dollars, and you enroll in a private place (like MedPro), I found that they offer better schedules, as well as you're pretty much employed once you graduate. Also, if you work in LTC, NH will reimburse the full cost of your tuition. (That's what I'm doing). Anyway, I wish you luck and if you need any more advice or help, don't hesitate to ask/private message me because I spent a good three months researching all of this stuff.

I went through LNA training at Red Cross and I loved it. The course was 1,200 so I took out a loan because I didn't have that kind of cash on me. BUT, as long as you work in LTC after your course in NH, you can get reimbursed and get your money back. I think you have to work for at least 6 weeks in LTC.

Dont know where you are, but Riverwoods in Exeter will pay for you to go to school, you have to give them a year though. I did my training through LNA health careers, in Dover, and loved it. My teacher was awesome, but I dont know if that program is still available in this area. Check out the NHBON and see what they offer! Congrats on starting a new career!
